Beads to Battle Cancer

Hey guys!

It's been a while since I've popped on here to share a blog post with you guys, but when I heard about this organization I had to share this with you. Before I dive in, I want to add that this post is not sponsored in any way. This organization is just one that really hit home for my family, and I felt like I needed to share. I actually can't take credit for finding this company, because my mom is the one who found it in the small town of Honesdale, PA, but I'm so happy she shared it with me so that I can share it with all of you.

A company called the Portable Playhouse established their organization to create a distraction for women and children going through cancer treatment. They decided that providing patients with the art of beading would give them something to look forward to, and kill the time consuming treatments that come with cancer. They have recently broken a Guiness World Record for creating the world's longest beaded necklace. They are actually selling 24-in. sections of this necklace called Love Beads, each for $25.00, to benefit their Lona Kana project.

What is Lona Kana?

Lona Kana is a special retreat designed to give women battling cancer a peaceful, distracting environment to promote healing and brighten spirits. It will be managed by a team of professional caregivers and compassionate volunteers, and will act as an escape so they can forget about their hardships and enjoy time with themselves and their loved ones-- away from cancer. It's truly an amazing thing. Especially if you've seen the impact cancer can have on a loved one not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. This retreat is really something amazing-- this whole organization is.

So how did we find out about this organization?

My mom was in Honesdale, a small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania, when she stumbled upon a cute little store called "Bloom." In this store, she found all kinds of handmade jewelry... I mean really beautiful pieces. What is truly amazing about this store, is that 100% of the profits from the jewelry goes straight to the Lona Kana project. If you're ever in the area, and want to check out a cute store with a huge impact, and really amazing pieces, you have to check this out. You also have to check out their sites to learn more in detail about this organization. You can purchase Love Beads, or even donate to this cause.

This stunning bracelet I think was only $10, which 100% benefits Lona Kana!

I really think it's awesome that this organization empowers women and brings them up in a time that is probably the hardest and most challenging thing they'll ever go through. I'm thankful for people like those that belong to this team that finds the positive in such terrible situations.
